The BBC are running a series looking at dream jobs, starting with Chocolate Taster and Professional Lego Modeller.

So what would yours be? 🙂

Final post before I head away for Christmas break, chocolate taster sounds good to me! Would find the 'spitting out' rather difficult though. 😉

That's something I'm struggling with finding at the moment. I was a teacher, but at the moment am unemployed and waiting for supply work, while also looking at other job options. I would love a job that is involved in the education of children in some way, for example as part of a team that goes into schools, but have no idea where to start looking for something like that. I love working with children, but if have found it hard to have a good work-life balance, especially with the demands of the jobs and having two young children. Any suggestions anyone ❓

Dream Job's a good question. I love the job i have but i'm a musician who works in I.T. Dream job would be getting paid (same salary i'm not after millions) to just play my music full time.

I wanted to join the army as a combat medical tech, do my time then look at joining the police.

but the wife (girlfriend at the time) didn't like this idea.

can't do it now as i earn more than i would as a CMT.

wasted 12 years after i left school working in a sawmill then the 'factory' that my dad and grandad worked in as i was growing up,youngest of 3 brothers i tried to be like them(dad n granpop) and wanted to be like them, ''the working factory man'',. Hated it .....to be frank it just wasnt me, but after my oldest came along i felt even more trapped and kinda rushed along buisiness plans i had for years to start my own buisiness. worked my [censored] off with buisiness gateway and working on the project while (sshhhhhhh) i was on the sick ooops...it was yeaars ago lol, anyways in the end i was awarded 1700 more from bgateway and i was over the moon. it was a mural painting business e.g kids rooms ,winnnie the poo nemo scooby doo etc etc etc,all free hand original artwork, even done my kids school for nothing to promote the business, picture in the paper the lot. but......wasnt no where near prepared for all that was involved got myself in a mess and it failed. and so did i.lost my family my dignity my self esteem .....my [censored] was on the floor for a long time. just teachng guitar here n there n generaly doing nothing for 4 years ....... although i have plans to restart the business i am now painting canvases peoples pets old pictures of family members etc etc. the mega out there dream is still music though ,i love my guitars almost as much as my girls lol but we have to dream i suppose.................

but my point is i dont want to be rich with my ocupation but i want to be happy and enjoy it
peace out

Sounds like a great plan.

Wow painting - what a great way to earn a living. You obviously have a talent.

It was brave to give up a job and start your own business. That takes guts. Good on you mate.

Until 8 weeks ago I'd have said my dream job was the one I had as a retail manager for a mobile retailer, that was until I was told I was being made redundant.

I was very lucky (right place at the right time) that an ex employee wandered into my store 4 days after I had been told I was being given the elbow and told me they were looking for staff where he worked and I should email my CV, within 10 days of being told I was to be made redundant I managed to land a job as a service advisor/manager working for Audi.

I've swapped the noisey high street for a quiet showroom, where instead of phones to look at I have an R8 next to my desk, plus I earn more money and my role is easier and less stressful.

plus (when I can get contact order sorted) I have weekends off to see my son, so all round I wouldn't swap my job.

and the silver lining was i'd been in my last job for 8 years so got a nice pay out!!!

Great story - really pleased that you found something so quickly and easily.

Did you even have to update your CV?

Now do I need to talk to you when I decide to buy my next A5 - obviously for a hefty discount!!!

I did have to up-date my CV but did this in the work time of my last employer 😆

I can discount service cost but not sales i'm afraid.

Looks like I got one of the dream jobs - I now work for a Chocolate company, not as a taster, but constantly have chocolate on hand 😀

I am a qualified Electrical engineer, currently doing nothing of the sort, working in an office role, for a central heating firm, Im actually good at it, and I enjoy the work, I would say my boss's job, purely because, there is nowhere to go but up.

I wouldnt say this is my dream job, but its not bad, I think my dream job would be to have my own paintball/airsoft field. or perhaps to own the New Orleans Saints!

i second that having your own airsoft site would be so cool.
i would love to be a fighter jet pilot!
or a deep sea treasure hunter like that programme on that quest channel or if i could go back in time a wild west cowboy or a pirate.

I applied to the RAF to be a fighter pilot when I was 24, unfortunately the cut-off age was 23 1/2 so I missed it by a few months, and didn't want to be a navigator (which I was still young enough for) - would have been a lot of fun.
