hi guys i currently work two jobs one is full time but only temporary for another 6 months the other is part time permanent 16 hours. My problem is i wanted work life balance which one other employee in my profession knew about so i got a form but i had to wait 6 months to apply. So i was contacted yesterday and told i had a meeting today about my work life balance request. heres my situation in bulletpoints.

i have a wife and a child who i only get to see friday sat and sunday
i have to live with my mum for the other days and sleep on a sofa

my problem is i finish work at 8.15pm and i have to take 3 buses and i get home at 11.15 (21 miles away)

i requested if ii could start 30 mins early and finish 30 mins earlier as i could get home at 9pm

i was told it may be could possible to cut my hours which i dont want to do as my other job will end and i cant afford to work then

ps i am currently looking for another job fulltime closer to home

is there anything i can do

Hi and welcome

I'm not sure what advice we can give - the option to start and finish 30 mins earlier seems to be a no-brainer if it cuts 3 hours off your travelling. I assume that they are offering that they can reduce your hours rather than to force you to do so, so the option is for you - personally, I'd stick those hours out for when your permanent job ends, and ask if there is any option to increase your hours at the part time job at that point.

If you could get a full time job closer to your home, it would be better then
