I am due my annual review from the cms soon. last year they took my pay from 2017/18 which was quite a lot higher than I earnt last year and I was paying maintainance on around £9000 more than I think I should have been. Just wondering if anyone knows how they will make their calculations for my payments dues to start for the next 12 month. thanks. lee.

I think your review should be same date every year. Mine is April 28 and they send me a letter around the 6th saying it is being reviewed and I should tell them if my circumstances have changed. Then next I hear is a letter before the 28th confirming their decision and award.

If your review date is March the figures they base it on will be the current with HMRC, which will be the P60 amount from your last year earnings. They will not have figures to base it on the current years earnings. Even on my April review it does not have the latest year, so is based on last years.

So in short, I expect you will be assessed on what you earned last year, not the current year.

hi,

i signed up to CMS on 5th march last year. they just did my review (all wrong as usual lol). its annoying being self-employed. CMS just see the salary amount from HMRC. then have to always ring them up and tell them about dividends, so i don't end up paying peanuts to ex and get in trouble. glad i will be ditching self-employed work and going permanent.
