Hi there, I have been paying an agreed amount for 10 years and my dearest son is 18 years of age. He is at college doing B-TECH.
He is working part time and finishes college this year around June time.
When can I stop this payment and set up a savings account for him
Hope to hear some answers

Hi there

Once he leaves college in June, providing he doesn't enrol in another course, your payments should stop the first week in September.

If your agreement is a private arrangement then it might be a good idea to liaise with the mother, giving her plenty of notice of the change.

If your arrangement is through the CSA then it would be a good idea to make sure that she is aware that its her responsibility to inform the Child Benefit Office of the changes. The CSA will expect maintenance to continue if the mother is still claiming Child Benefit, even if he has left education.
