Hello there!
Does anyone have any advice for getting visitation rights to see my 5 year old daughter? My ex is demanding money before she will grant me access. I don't want to make a scene at her house, and is she allowed to do this????!!!! I just want to know the least costly and most expedient way to get this sorted out, thank you!
Hi there
Your post would be better in the Legal Eagle Section, it will get more attention there as its the busiest area on the forum! Would you like me to move it over for you?
There are things you can do, but contact and maintenance are two separate issues and one doesn't rely upon the other. The government believes its every fathers duty to provide for their children , regardless of whether the see them or not.
That said she shouldn't be using contact with your child as leverage to get money from you and there are steps you can take to try and sort this out.
Just to add to this though, have you made any formal arrangements for child maintenance? As mojo says, the two aren't linked and she should not be withholding contact, but equally you do have an obligation (both legal and moral) to provide for your daughter.
