newbie on here....why oh why oh why does the system favour the mother.

my ex...(who i loved and trusted for 20years)...emptied my business account, made me bankrupt, lost our house (mortgage almost paid), had an affair..ended the relationship coz she couldnt live with the guilt of what she had done....keeps telling me i done nothing wrong.

i worked hard provided a great life for my family....and we had a great family life and i had a great wife.

so why is it she dictates all the terms in which i have access to my kids...she uses the kids to manipulate everyone into getting what she wants on her terms...

i earn enough money so my kids dont need state bennefits of to claim for tax creddits, have an amazing family support network around me...she doesnt....kids dont want to live there...my lawyer say it will cost me about £15k to fight for custody....

sooooo frustrated.

rant over......... 😡

Hi Gordy

Have you considered doing some of the work yourself, and just using your solicitor for support? You could reduce your costs considerably if you aren't prepared to represent yourself entirely (in which case, the cost would be £200)

Mate, I have spent 2.5yrs and nearly 18k..

I saw a bloke at a families need fathers meeting , he applied for legal aid, applied for a contact order and got it done in 2 months!!
My solicitor screwed up my application and I was refused legal aid 3 times before they finally sent me a copy of the refusal
letter to prove they weren't messing me about.. Luckily my account details were on the letterhead, so i rang them myself
and lo and behold, the NI number was wrong.. it was with me in a week..
My solicitor waited for 3 mths with no reply from her solicitor.. SO I rang them.. they hadn't heard from her, had closed the
case, considered it 'historic' and even discussed it with me ??
I acted as an agent between my solicitor and hers, and my solicitor and the LSC .. and I can't command a fee for it..

My Advice.. Represent yourself -- the few hours it will take to learn how is nothing against the years of pain.. Trust me please..
I will wager 20 English pounds that your case will be successful before mine through self representation alone.
I'm already in too far :/

thanks for the replies...havnt got a clue where to start.....my kids are not happy at their mums...have said for months they want to live with me.
my daughter is 16, she can live where she wants to but only stays at her mums 'to protect' (her words) her brothers.

ex is so un reasonable...just want equal access to my kids...dont think im asking for too much.

Have a read of yojis guide to representing yourself at the top of the legal section, that's a good starting point.
