Hi
We are currently trying to sort out separation and how much I will be paying. Obviously I want to help my daughter (16 months old) and will buy her things when she is with me. However, my future ex girlfriend is very difficult to reason and even talk with.
She brings home £1200, I think she’ll be entitled to £200 tax credits and wants £500 a month off me (£44,500 salary) I’ve suggested £350 which the .gov website suggested after the online questions, she didn’t even consider this. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as I’m at a brick wall with it all and just want to sort things out amicably.
Many thanks in advance.
At the end of the day, your responsibility stops on the CMS calculation. You can be amicable and firm at the same time, one doesn't exclude the other, but do double check you have got your calculations right.
She is obviously not going to be looking after you, you need to look after yourself, so if you can afford it, I would also consider making sensible pension contributions to safeguard your own future.
Yes that’s what I would have thought. If she continues to dismiss my offers I’m thinking the cms might help matters, I’m just worried she may get what she wants. Thanks for your comment.
I would definitely check the calcs again - unless you have any other children, I reckis it's around £440 per month on your income.
