hi Iv recently found out my son of 18 as changed is last name to his stepfathers. since he was 16 he;s had a bank account passport and also driving liscence in the stepfathers name. I have been told by other family members that he was adopted without my consent. how can i find out if this is true.
Hi there
I'm not sure how you would go about finding that out to be honest, but I think it's important to ask what you would do if you found out this was the case?
Once your son reached 16 he could probably make the decision to be adopted without your prior consent. If he were younger, then I would assume your permission would be required.
Might be worth asking the local registrar if there is a way to find out about these, I would think they would know.
