I have recently received a CSA Assessment which states I owe £47k. In Jan 04 I left my ex partner who I had 2 boys with. I contacted the CSA at the time who made an assessment of £230/month and they sent paying in slips to pay at the bank/post office. After around 4 months I was told that my csa payments were on hold as my ex on benefits and her ex husband was paying his CSA money I no longer had to pay and my claim would be cancelled, this was in 2004. Roll forward to Oct 2016 and I receive a one page letter from CMSmstating I owe £47k with no breakdown.
A lot has happened since 2004, Ive had 3 further children, my other 2 children which the CMS are chasing me for were taken away from there mother in 2010, I see my children once a month and I find it incredible that this letter has turned my life upside down. My boys have even lived with me for 3 months. Can anyone advise what to do? I am waiting for a call back from the CMS.
Please help?
If the CMS aren't able to resolve this, contact your local MP and they will be able to help you deal with CMS.
To be honest, I'd contact your MP now rather than wait for the CMS to sort themselves out
