Hi all I'm new here 1st time poster dad of 1 little princess called tiana as you may have gathered. Basically I'm wandering if there's any way and if so how to go about representing myself to gain access to my little girl. I work full time but barely keeping my head above the water. If anyone can help enlighten possibly guide me through this process It would be very very much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.
Dan
Hi there and welcome π
I think the first thing I have to say is to anonymise your post by removing yours and your daughters name, and in future posts don't reveal anything that is likely to reveal your identity....you'd be surprised how many " mums" check out the forum and its contempt of court to discuss a court case.
The good news is that self representing is very doable! We have many dads here that have chosen that route and with some success.
Have a read through the stickys at the top of the legal eagle section, there's lots of info there.
Since April mediation has been compulsory before court action can be taken. What you must do is to make an appointment with a mediator, near to your ex if possible, and go along and discuss the issues and what you would like to happen. The mediator will then invite your ex to attend, if she refuses the mediator will then sign off the forms that will enable you to apply to the court for a contact order, or Child Arrangements Order as it called now. It might also be helpful for you to attend a Families Need Fathers meeting in your area. Here's a link to their webpage where you will find details of meetings locally. You will get face to face advice and support and get to meet other parents that are in a similar situation.

It's probably better if you post any questions you have about the process in the Legal Eagle section as you will get more responses there.
Good luck π
