[Solved] Overpayments

Hi Guys,

Just a quick one here i was hoping for some assistance.

I have recently changed employer so i informed the CSA of the change of circumstances.

I requested that the attachement of earing i have previously had remains in force and gave them the details of my new employer.

2 months down the line i am no closer to this being in place as i was on day 1.

I am actually now being informed that my account is in arrears. ( i find this unusual seeing as i have never missed a payment and also how is this possible when i have an attachemtn of earings?)

Is it not the responsibility of the CSA to ensure they are taking the correct amount each month?

Having enentually managing to speak to someone with an ounce of intelligence they advised it is due to an overpayment i made back in 2011 which i can only assume they made incorrectly and are stating that i now have to pay it all back via a standing order? (iv never requested a standing order as a term of payment).

has anyone else encountered the same or can anyone offer advice?

Thanks

Hi there

When someone is not happy with how the Child Support Agency (CSA) handles their case, there is a complaints and appeals procedure that can be followed. You can find more information about that here, www.gov.uk/child-maintenance/complaints-and-appeals, including how to ask the Independent Case Examiner (ICE) to look into your complaint and how you can ask your MP to get the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman to look into it.

Good luck
