[Solved] New to this; advice needed

Good evening,

I am new to this and need some serious help and advice.

I have two daughters from different mothers; my eldest daughter who is 9 later this month I do not have any problems with seeing her; however, my youngest daughter who is 2 next week, I am having serious problems with her mother. We broke up when I found out see was having an affair; which is told me in August of last year, she moved out of our joint owned property in September to pursue her relationship with her lover (a married man with kids of his own); I was arrested in October for assault on her but was acquitted of the offence at court due to lack of evidence last week; I had stopped contact with the mother in mid January as I did not want to affect my court case as advised by the Police (even though she claims that she has held differently from other sources) which in turn stopped me from seeing my daughter as the mother wanted to contact me twice a day when my daughter was in my custody. After meeting the mother today; the mother is refusing me to see my daughter because I have not seen my daughter for just over 8 weeks and it has to be supervised visits on her terms when and where it suits her. I do not know what to do and I am in pieces. Any help or assistance would be great.

Hi,
You do not mention if you have previously been to court and got a court order with regard to a child arrangement order. Maybe looking into applying for one may help you in the long run so you get a more structured agreement in place. If you have a good relationship with one of your children’s parents they could write you a statement to that effect.

If I was you I would initially agree to the supervised contact as if you do end up going to court it will show that you were accommodating with Mum and also taking into account the fact that you had a small break from contact with your daughter and how that may have affected her and the worst thing would be to let that break in contact get bigger and bigger. You could look into local contact centres and send her the info of those if you do not want her or a family of hers to do the contact visits.

Lots of people on here, my partner included have applied for a child arrangement order without a solicitor to keep the costs to a minimal and had a success. Good luck

If you haven't got a child arrangement order, then before you can apply to court for one, you will be required to try mediation first to see if any agreement can be reached, so I'd look at that asap - www.nfm.org.uk - it's possible that once the mother realises you are serious about taking this to court, she may possibly relent a little.
