Plenty of mothers can, and do function very well without a man.

I think this is more about your situation and your views than a general assumption that all women need help from a man.

If you resent being asked to help the mother of your child, then perhaps don't oblige..........

In my experience with the female of the species you tend to hear that most women don't "Need" a man when they've split from theirs and they go out of their way to try and prove it by excluding you from everything including the kids needs!

In my opinion, you could take what you are finding with your ex a couple of ways...
- She could be hoping that you two can be "adults" and be amicable for the sake of your kids and be thinking things will be as they were before (wishfull thinking by how you choose your words)
- She may not have anyone else around who can help her and she still thinks that you will.
- She could be trying to keep you close in the hope you may get back together.
- Or as you it sounds like you seem to think, she could be thinking you're a mug and you'll do what she asks..... an "or else" added could be added to the end of that for if you don't she'll withold contact or be a bigger nightmare in the contact dispute.

It'll all change when she finally meets a guy, then you'll be surpless to requirements and free to do your own thing without her bugging you all the time.

May be time to change shaving brands lol
