I have a son aged 9 who lives with his mum. I give her 15% of my take home pay will this amount change once my new baby is born?
Hi There,
.
Yes it will, you will need to inform either CSA or CMS depending on who looks after your case and they will re calculate it, you will need to wait until the child benfit for your new baby is arranged and set up as they will check against this to confirm you have a child living at your address.
.
I've just tried to look to see what reduction you will get but to be honest it's confusing but I think if I've read it correctly, you would get a 9% reduction but it's best to call them and they will work it out for you.

As you are paying 15% for 1 child, I think you are on CSA - I think their rules are that if you have a child to support by this partner, then your maintenance is reduced by 15% of the amount you pay, in other words your maintenance overall will be reduced to 12.75% of takeome pay.
I'm not sure whether this would trigger the CSA to close the case in which case your ex would then have to apply to the CMS.
