[Solved] Meeting up with fellow Dad's !

Morning All,

I'm a newbie, this is my first post. I got divorced 4 years ago (best thing I ever did) and have two wonderful son's from my first marriage, now aged 10 and 13. I'm also expecting a Daughter soon with my now wife, life feels very positive.

My son's live in Newbury, Berkshire with their mother, and I live in Maidenhead, Berkshire with my wife, which is about 40 mins away. I have the kids alternate weekends and 5 weeks of school holidays. It works well, though I would have preferred to have been a little closer in driving terms, but it was a compromise with my wife.

The only thing I struggle with at times is giving my kids the opportunity to meet and make friends in Maidenhead. Obviously they don't go to school here, but they are sociable kids and would love to make friends they could hang out with on the weekends they are with me.

Are there any other Dad's in this situation ? any advice, groups, clubs ? Any Dad's want to meet up with kids of a similar age ? My kids are up for anything, biking, swimming, theme parks ! (or maybe that's just me)

Cheers

Mark

Hi there

It's great to hear that life is good and congratulations on the imminent arrival of your daughter.

I've had a look for some clubs in Maidenhead and found a link to some on the Mumsnet website, here's a link

You could also try looking in the Library as they often advertise local events and local papers too might advertise. Local soccer camps are also a good place to meet other kids, my grandson has made friends attending them here when he's on holiday. The one he attends is run by Everton who travel around the area running them during holidays, he off to one tomorrow in fact! You could try calling your local football team ground and asking if they have any info about what's available.

Best of luck

Might be worth trying the local swimming club, or any organisation that has sports they are interested in, that would be a start.
