[Solved] Maintenance settlement established in Singapore

Hi.
I will be moving back to England after trying to hang on for my daughters for past 7 years since divorce. This is the hardest decision I have ever made.
5 years ago I signed a settlement for child maintenance with little understanding of future implications and still hopes of joining back with ex. Consequently, the settlement was too generous.
Since then, my ex has had 2 promotion s and I now have to pay tax on school fees and give her extra from our housing allowance 60℅. It is hard to challenge this in Singapore thou.
I know I can challenge it if I move back to UK but what are my chances of a substantial reduction? I will have a less well paid job and no housing allowance plus she is now living with a partner in Singapore.
Any advice please. I believe I'm best to challenge thru UK courts agreed?

I'm afraid you probably need to speak to a specialist legal adviser on this as I don't think it's anything that we have experience of on the forum.

Hi there

As well as getting legal advice, I would advise you to contact the CMS in the first instance, you may be able to open a case with the CMS yourself on your return to the UK.

If Singapore have a reciprocal arrangement with the U.K. you may find yourself back in court here if she decides to pursue it here, so I would act quickly once you return to the UK to preempt that.

All the best
