Hi all, been paying the csa / cms/ ss for some time now as my son who is 19 and just going to university. When does child maintenance stop. Unbelievable when does a child become an adult.
Hi there
It should stop at the beginning of September, when your son starts University.
Child maintenance is paid up to the age of 20 as long as they are in full time, non advanced education. As university is considered as advanced education, his mother is no longer eligible for CM.
If the mother hasn’t notified the CSA/CMS of the changes, they may want you to continue to pay.
If you have a private family based arrangement then it’s up to you and the mother to come to agreement about how and when payments are made.
All the best
Thanks for the advice. It seem that the goal posts are always changing. On a positive nearly finished thank god. It been a long time dealing with the csa. To me they are the same organisation. So unfair
