Hi,
did you tell your ex about your health condition? also does your medical situation allow you to have any kind of contact with your child? if i were you, I would try to get contact started with the child right away. these are the most important years when their very young. i have a 3 year old and she has a very strong bond with me. stays literally attached to my legs lol. if you start contact when there age 6 and above, it will be much harder. you would almost be like a stranger to the child.
thank you bill, yes ive told the mother of my problem, but shes not interested,, as im gone? breaks my heart,, i must try and see my daughter ,, but how only god knows,,
Only you can decide if you’re strong enough to put yourself back into the court arena a1dad2be... how is your health condition currently?
If you want to restart contact, your first step is to attempt mediation, if this fails or as is more likely, she refuses to attend, the forms will be signed off so that you can make a fresh application.
You had such a struggle last time, it would be advisable to have a solicitor to represent you., although I understand if that’s not possible.
Did you attend any Families Need Fathers meetings the last time you were going through court? It might be helpful for you and a good support.
... Before you start, it would be a good idea to write to the mother and explain that you’re ready to restart contact, your health is being managed and you would like to resume contact. The original order still stands, and she should accept that you were putting your child’s best interests first by dealing with your health condition first.
Offer a couple of sessions in the contact centre, just to help with re establishing a bond with your child.
Keep copies of the letter and send it recorded delivery, alternatively you could instruct a solicitor to write the letter.
