[Solved] Just another new Dad (to the forum) saying Hi!

Hi, Just thought I'd say hello.

I was once a full-time dad but now I'm a part-time Dad, worker, and small business owner. In what order just depends on the time of day and year.

We have two young boys, one in the infant's school while the other attends a junior school. As a family, we enjoy days out and movies, whether it's at the cinema or at home with a DVD. Despite giving in this Christmas and buying the boys a PS4, I'm really not a gamer. In fact, my six year knows more about playing Minecraft than I do. I think they're a total waste of time and money, but that's just my opinion!

I enjoy Gardening, spending time on the Internet and cooking. I also bought a metal detector fourteen months ago in the hope I could get the boys interested. However, three trips later, they got fed up with digging up bottle tops and hearing stories like "Wow, you've managed to find a nail from the deck of the Mary Rose". It didn't wash with them! I can't think why?

I'm here to get fresh ideas, perhaps some meet-ups during the summer (fossil hunting in Dorset anyone?) and tips on how to keep sane would be great.

Cheers.

Hi and welcome,
.
My son used to have a metal detector, I used to hide things for him to find, that was always fun seeing the look on his face when he found something he hadn't realised I's stashed there.

Hi there Martin

What a great introduction! I've always wanted a metal detector and used to go searching for fossils when I was a child ....the beach at Saltburn was brimming with ammonites and devils toenails! I I really like GTTSs idea of hiding "treasure" for them to find.

Welcome to the forum, perhaps you and actd can organise a meet next time he's down there. πŸ™‚

All the best
