Can you please advise whether it is legal to photocopy Court Orders?
These have been requested by the nursery and doctors surgery to prove the father has parental responsibility and access to his children.
I thought I had read somewhere on the relevant papers that they should not be photocopied.
I believe they are strictly confidential and personal and should not be photocopied.
I look forward to your reply, thank you.
you are not allowed to divulge the proceedings of a family court unless it is directly for the welfare of the child (to do so is contempt of court). This means that schools etc, who need to know the conditions imposed by a court are entitled to see the orders so you are perfectly OK to take copies for their benefit.
You can confirm this with the court of you are still worried.
Thank you actd for your reply.
I don't like the idea of photocopies "floating about" for all and sundry to read. Do you think that those who need proof should be satisfied with SEEING the Court Orders rather than allowing them to take copies?
I feel a little "ruffled" as it would appear the mothers don't have to comply with this type of request.
As actd said, "you are perfectly OK to take copies for their benefit."
Anyone who needs to see it would have a duty of confidentiality anyway, so it should be fine for them to have a copy, but they may be satisfied simply to see the copy and note it on their file.
