hello i am new to the website i have a 3 year old son that refuses to eat anything that has been in contact with sauce for instance if i was to give him a curry or something he will eat the rice but he will refuse to eat the curry. He freaks out if there is any sort of sauce on his plate if any of his other food touches his food he will not eat it is it just him being fussy or could there be a medical problem behind this i hope i could get some help from this site as the doctors and that say he is too young for anything to be done PLEASE help..

It might be worth getting him checked for allergies, but if he's healthy with the food he's eating, and he has a varied diet, then I wouldn't worry about it really. It's not uncommon for young children to be fussy about what they eat for no apparent logical reason.

You could try making something he likes into a sauce (do it with him, so he can see what's going on) and see if he'll eat (or at least try) that.

Three year olds are notorious for being fussy eaters, especially if they get a reaction. It's better not to make a big thing out of it, continue to offer him new flavours, put the sauce in a little dish at the side but don't make a fuss, just tell him it's there if he wants to try it.

In my opinion, having bought up my own children, and now experiencing my totally fussy grandchildren, I don't believe this has a medical cause.

My 8 year old grandson has just informed me he will be having chicken nuggets and chips on Christmas day, because he will not eat a roast dinner in any way shape or form!

My 4 year old grandson, who would eat vegetables, sauces and wasnt fussy in the slightest, has for the last year slowly refused to eat anything vegetable.

Once they both get older I'm sure they will start to explore food....at least I hope so, but for now as long as they are eating and growing adequately then I refuse to get wound up about it! I believe that's the advice of health professionals too. πŸ™‚
