Hello, please read my story, I am trying to raise funds so that my brother can represent himself in court in order to get a contact order to see his kids. This is totally a last resort after being put through 3 years of [censored]. An y help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to hear this! My story is very similar to your brothers.

The first step will be mediation. If your brother is on a low income he will get legal aid and may not have to pay. He must go to mediation first. You can't apply to courts without a certificate of mediation (can't remember the correct form).

It costs £220 to apply to the courts. He can represent himself. I paid for solicitors and I'm sorry that I did. So far, £4000 wasted as my solicitor did very little that I couldn't have done myself with some research and time.

Do basically, your brother would be looking at around £3-400 for mediation and court hearing. That's if he isn't isn't entitled to legal aid for the mediation.

Not sure if he knows this already?

I'd be interested to know how you arrived at the sum of £2500 as the previous member stated, it only costs £215 to submit an application, plus mediation costs if applicable. At the most your looking at well under £1000. To represent yourself in court.
