Hello all,

I am a dad to a 9 month old boy. I have just found this site.

One thing I have noticed as a dad is the great networks for mothers, and children centres and library groups being geared towards mothers. At the moment I look after my son while my wife works. I don't know any other fathers so this seems to be a good place.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

There does seem to be a distinct lack of groups especially for Dads around. Have you asked at your local library for information on any groups aimed at fathers? Always worth trying your local Children's Centre too as they may be aware of anything suitable.

If you find anything feel free to post it on here, maybe we could start a thread for everyone to post about groups in their areas.

Don't forget to check out our other sections including Family and Kids.

Thanks for the welcome.

There is a nursery rhyme group once a week but it is very mum orientated. There is a weekly dads group at the children's centre( although single mums are also encouraged to go). Meanwhile at the childrens centre every day it is very mum orientated. I went to one of the events and was made to feel pretty unwelcome.

I think I may have to try starting up a group. I just kinda resent how these facilities (children's centres) exist at huge expense to taxpayers and staff are employed but dads are not really able to engage with them.
