[Solved] EX WANTS TO PUT ME ON THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE

It's only took the nut job 2.5 years but the ex finally wants to put me our daughters birth certificate!

It's so we can get the girls their passports as we are planning a family holiday abroad for my big 40th which is fast approaching.

How do we go about it, how much does it cost and where do we do it?

Many thanks in advance.

Congratulations, your relationship seems to be getting better and better Slim!

Next thing you will be inviting us to the engagement party lol

Anyway as you are not currently on the birth certificate, only your ex can apply for the passport. It doesn't take two of you to apply for it anyway.

It's a simple process, better to get the paper application from the post office, and fill in the sections relevant for child first passport. It will need a certified counter-signatory. It has to be someone that knows your ex partner for at least 3 years maybe less i cant remember and must be a working professional with a valid UK passport. i struggled in this part but finally my accountant was approved and I received my daughters passport in a matter of days. You will also need 2 passport sized photos. You could technically do it with your phone edit and print it on photo paper but if you want to be extra like me, go to a professional photo shop, many of them around and ask them to take a passport pic of your child, Shouldn't cost more than Β£10 maximum.

Putting yourself on the birth certificate or not is not going to affect the outcome of the passport, it will only enable you to be able to apply for it, which your ex is fully capable of doing herself.

Dont tell her this of course, just go along with what she's saying and get your name on that birth certificate lol

Slim sorry i just re read your post lol

To add yourself to the birth certificate is simple also lol

Just get your ex to call up the registrar where she registered the child. The usual process is to book an appointment and both of you have to attend, sign some documentation and thats it done, you will be officially added. They will tell you what you need to bring and costs involved.

My daughter was registered in London and it cost Β£10 at the time to make amendments etc.

Hahahaha........thanks guy's, nope defo won't be an engagement party I can assure you or that!!!! Hahaha! She wants me to pay for my girls passport that's why she's asked lol I don't mind though she also said she doesn't want our daughter to find it in years to come and see I'm not on there (what I've been saying for 2.5 years) I just bit my lip haha.

As It happens we are going to the balearics where I usually go and DJ each year on my own so It will be nice to take my girl with me this time we managed a family music festival last year camping for 5 days and we never killed each other so I think we should be ok it will be our daughters sisters first holiday abroad too which is cool.

It promises to be a good year we've got 2 family music festival to go to and I'll be jetting off to the states as well so really looking forward to it πŸ™‚
