[Solved] Decree Absolute

Hello, I have been separated from my estranged wife since February 2014. In April 2016 the decree nice came through. My ex did nothing toward moving toward a Decree Absolute. After the legal period of time passed the ball was in my court to go for it. However I can't afford the legal costs. My solicitor has not prioritised my case and it has dragged on for ages.

I am in mind to just leave the whole situation as is until I can resolve it much later on. I have a new baby daughter to my new partner and I pay my ex the requisite maintenance.

Do you have any suggestions as to what I can do?
Thanks

Hi there

I'm not up to speed on the financial side of divorce, but would it be possible to finish this without a solicitor?

You might find answers on a website called Wikivorce, they deal with the intricacies of divorce much more than we do here, although one of the moderators might well be able to advise you later...it's always quiet at the weekends.

This might help, it seems the absolute is just a matter of requesting it from the court.

Hi There,
.
My knowledge on divorce isn't too bad, you may well be able to do the final part without solicitors, but this would depend on how complex things are, If you want to send me a private message with some details I will happily look at it for you and give an oppinion.
.
I am not legally trained, but have been through divorce myself and also recently helped another member to finalise thier divorce without using solicitors.
