I've spoken to the csa re a claim my ex has made against me (despite the fact that I have paid every month beforehand) and they have stated that they are basing the payments on my last years wage which was 42k but my basic salary is 30k and the other 12k from last year was ridiculous amounts of overtime in order to set up after separating with her and leaving her everything. The company are no longer offering overtime due to cut backs (and I don't think that should count anyway) is there anyway of appealing the amount? Because I'm looking at paying out £500 a month when she lives rent free and doesn't pay for child are etc so it seems excessive! Advise please!
If the difference in the amount you are being asked to pay and what you should be paying is 25% or more then you can ask for them to,look at it again....that's my understanding. There's an appeal process but if you don't get any joy then you could approach your MP for help.
