so i missed ONE maintenance payment last month so i could see my children. (my ex moved 260 miles away, and its the first time in 7 months im allowed to see them) i got told by TWO maintenance people they told my ex they wouldn't put her on collect and pay, then this one woman said they would be. can i stop this, i have never missed a payment before...there is no history of it...
I'm not sure about this as the criteria for Collect and pay is missed payments. If your ex is insisting on collect and pay and you missed a payment, then you may not be able to do much about it. I'm not an expert though.
They take a percentage of the amount you pay from your ex too, it's 4% I think. Is your ex aware of this? She would be better off agreeing to direct payments....perhaps you could offer her a little more than the statutory amount to encourage her to accept direct payments, something less than the 20% charge that the Collect and Pay service would cost you, say 10%.....just a thought.
