Climate anxiety

Recently my seven year old grandson told me that he was so worried about the climate topics that had been discussed at school that he could not sleep. In one sense I wasn't at all surprised because he is very scientifically literate, for his age, and also climate aware. I also believe that, although he is young, to be aware of environmental issues and concerned about them is a testimony to his thoughtfulness.

However, I have noticed that much climate education tends not to anticipate and be ready to support children's anxiety about their futures. When it is of such a level that counselling might be needed I am aware that Spurgeons and some schools may be able to offer this. I am also aware that there are professionals (psychologists, educational psychologists and others) that are working in this area and have produced some excellent video-based resources for parents.

However, I am not aware of specifically Christian responses to this issue that bring together the science, our practical choices as children and parents and Christian teaching.

Are you?
