Hi! I thought that you might all like to know that after reading many of your forums and comments, I have taken a good many new steps to making sure that our children's centre are more guy-friendly. The issues you face are very different to those of the women and in support of 'families' whether together or separated we are now a little more informed and incorporating aspects of the issues that you raise. We have also organised activities that dads can take part in, and WANT to take part in, with their mates and their kids too. Holding sessions in different places, at different times and with guys running some of them rather than always a female group leader. We have created a questionnaire for all male carers, whether dads, step dads or carers - only for the men ! This site and your forums are really valuable and full of information that we female, honestly, just haven't considered. Shame on us! In a tiny way our centre is trying to address some of these many issues. So, Thanks guys for your honesty on this site. I think a lot of centres would do well to LISTEN to what you need. The site is great. Regards - the woman at the children's centre!
Hi there 🙂
Its great to hear about the ways you are trying to support Dads at your centres and are making them more Daddy friendly!
Could I ask, are you part of the NACCC? The reason I ask is, I am supporting my son who has custody of his son, and he is trying to organise supervised contact for the mother. He needs some information about who is eligible to use the contact centres, and if there needs to be a referral from the Court or Childrens Services to have access to these centres.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated. 🙂
Hi nj
Apart from any answer you get above, my advice would be that he goes and sees them first and ask them what their criteria are and to have a look around the place.
I've moved the posts into the legal section - think we were hi-jacking this htread a bit too much
