Hello I've always wondered why kids have there dads name before marriage im in a situation where my child has the mothers name not mine we wernt together at the time of registration would I ever be able to Change it when he's 18 if he likes mine via deed poll ,I feel like I'm the only bloke whos child doesn't have same surname are there others on the same boat.
Apparently middle names can be added easiley hopeing the mother will put my name in the middle my last name stands out and he's just like a mini me
It's tradition more than anything I suppose. Once he's 18, he can chance his surname if he wishes, though double barrelling would give him both names. If you've married since, I think you can have the birth certificate changed now.
