i have just recieved some a letter from the csa ,i have been told by my ex girlfriend that i am a dad to her 7 month old son ,who does not carry my surname and i have not had a dna test could the csa get me to pay or not ?
Was the letter from the CSA the first thing you had heard about possibly having a son? If so that must have been a shocker. I know you can ask to have a dna test to prove the child is yours. If the dna tests proves he is your son, you will be responsible for financially supporting him & can also apply for access to see & spend time with your child.
Initially, you will pay for it - if the test proves you are not the father, then you may get the money back. If you think you are not, then you should deny that you are the father as the CSA won't refund any maintenance assessed before this date.
