[Solved] Child Support

Hi,
I was wondering if someone could advise me on this...

My ex wife blocked her bank accounts so i could no longer transfer her weekly child support and blocked my sons saving account so i couldn't transfer money into there either and told me if i kept trying to or get in contact with her it was a form of harassment and would go to police.

Just recently she has emailed me to tell me she is going to court because i haven't paid, but i couldn't so I'm confused? I still can't as the bank accounts are still blocked?

Can i get in trouble for this?
I want to pay i never denied money.

Thanks in advance.

Hi there

That's so unfair... I'm assuming that your arrangement was an informal agreement between yourselves? It's hardly surprising your confused, it doesn't make sense, unless she thinks she will get more money from you if she goes through court.

To avoid the added expense of court, if it were me I would open a case with the CMS myself, explain that she needs to supply a bank account for the maintenance to be paid into as she has blocked her accounts to prevent you from paying. Once you open a case, start putting a weekly amount aside as it takes the agency a few weeks to get the account set up and running. Here's a link to the CMS calculator, which will give you some idea of how much you are expected to pay

I would also advise that you do as she says and don't contact her, it would be very easy for her to get a harassment order against you.

All the best
