[Solved] Child maintenance payments

Hi. I wonder if anyone may be able to give some help. I have suspicions that my ex is claiming payments fraudulently but I have no sound proof.
My son, that I have not seen since he was five, I have been told he is now at university but the CMS is saying that is not the case as the mother has not replied to them and she is still claiming child benefit. If my son is at uni surely this is higher education!? Which should mean I don't have to pay child support.
Yet I cannot find out if this is true. I have phoned several universities that do the courses he is supposedly on but non will give out any information.
I feel trapped. Can anyone offer any help or guidance please

If your son is at uni, it shouldn't be possible to get Child Benefit any longer. Once a child is 16, CB ask for proof each year or every 2 years as to the status of the full time education. It could be that your son is doing a non advanced course at the moment which would still make CB eligible. You could try speaking with Child Benefit or maybe contact your local CAB.
