Hi all, I have just joint the Gingerbread forum.
I would like to know if anyone has had problems getting child maintenance from their ex partner. I am a single dad my daughter lives with me who is 15 and my son 12 lives with my ex wife. We have been divorced for about 4 years, the first two years both my children lived with mum so I supported them by paying child maintenance every month without fail. My daughter moved in with me 2 years ago and so far I have received 2 payments from my ex wife. We went through the CSA to ensure that the right amount was allocated to each of us. The CSA seem powerless to act because she is self employed running her very successful hairdressers. They have her home address, business address even access to her bank accounts but still nothing? Every time I phone them they tell me the same story phone back next month for an update? If I miss one payment as I am employed they will go straight to my employer before it pets paid into my account! Seems to me the way to beat the system is become self employed? I am so frustrated that my son gets taken on holiday gets bought new clothes all from the money I am paying my ex while I am struggling to pay a mortgage and support both our children, I cannot afford to buy them new clothes and holidays so I look like the bad guy?
I would welcome any replies from people who have managed to get payment from their ex partners because I haven't got a clue how to?
Thank you
Hi there
Have you made a formal complaint about their lack of action about this? I think it's probably time to do so. There is a complaints procedure but if you don't feel you are being taken seriously you can go and see your MP and ask them to get the Parliamentary Ombudsman involved.
Best of luck.
