[Solved] Child Maintenance

Hi. I paid £84k in maintenance. My children are now 26 & 28 years old. The CSA have written to me requesting back payments of £2,500.00 that they say I did not pay 23 years ago. Can anyone advise?

can you ask them to show you evidence where/when you did not pay?
thats one weird organisation. they struggle to work out payments for new applicants, but have time to chase people up 20 years later lol.

i suppose you cann not get copies of bank statements from that long ago?
do you have a child maintenance account login, so you can sign in and see whats been paid?

I would ask them (in writing) to make all future contact in writing and ask for a full account breakdown of the alleged arrears. I also advise that you contact your MP and ask them for assistance. Make sure you send all letters to the CSA recorded signed for delivery, keep copies and if you have your MP involved, send them a copy at the same time, as CMS/CSA will often tell the MP they haven’t received anything from you.

I’ll have a scout around, but nothing surprises me as far as this organisation is concerned!
