Can someone advise on the following problem with the CSA:
PWC made an application in May 2013 for my two younger children, unbeknown to me, I was first notified of a claim in April 2015 by the agency. They have now made an assessment back dating to the claim application. I have written to them questioning how they can apply this, after so long yet they insist that they can.
They are not accepting of various payments to my children direct during this period. Nor are they of financial support for my eldest daughter through University for the last three years, all with my former spouse's knowledge. They remain fixed in their opinion & are not prepared to consider this in their assessment. If I had been aware of such a claim I wouldn't have been able to support my daughter. I am now faced with a £15K demand. Any suggestions please.
unfortunately, they are correct in that they can backdate to the day the case was opened, though obviously they should have contacted you then. I would speak to the ombudsman, but also see your MP as soon as possible as they can raise a complaint at a higher priority than you can, so you need to try to get the to recognise payments you have been making. Payments to your daughter at university won't be taken into account, I would think, though as these aren't covered by the CSA anyway.
