hello,
I am looking fro some advice.
situation, my son is nearly 17 and lives 500 miles away I had to relocate due to work 3 years ago , Im in south wales they are in scotland
2 years ago for what ever reason said he never wanted to visit have contact or meet at any point, even if I was to travel to him.
CM renewal came in yesterday and has increased to £600 a month, when looking at the working £1000 is fees that are payable.
they haven't requested my salary details and the information on the standard letter states obtained from HMRC.
states that i earn £807 a week, my salary currently this year is £3043 an month, it doesn't look like my pension contributions have been taken into account, when this information is inputted to the calculator i should be paying £415.
i have cancelled my DD for end of Jan and got a horrible email this morning, the assessment arrived with a letter saying i have 32 days to appeal , however it was sent 10 days ago.
My ex as it seems like all non resident parents - lives in a nicer house, drive a brand new audi, etc ect . my ex will not even help to try to get him to speak to me .
my older son, has been to see him ( 15 years age differnce ) and comments such as I am not allowed to go out, they never do anything with him even go to the supermarket, I never come out of my room, i am really unhappy. phots shows he has gained an extreme amount of weight in 2 years.
sorry its so long my questions are.
- What do I have to submit to appeal the amount.
- Can I write to my son saying I want to pay him direct as he is 17.
- Can i say to the CSA i want to pay direct niot through click and collect
- can i make payments direct to my ex bank as payments made
- when will the payments cease based on the above information
i am now at my wits end with it all and miss him terribly was we was so close prior to the split. any help would really grateful.
hi,
it's likely they used last tax years records to work out your income. To appeal their review, you should phone them and tell them what your current wage/salary is. They will probably ask you to send your payslips to them using the portal page.
you can ask CMS if you can switch to direct pay and see what they say. You could ask your son if you can pay him direct, but I assume your ex opened the CMS case, so they would not close it if your ex does not agree to closing it.

You’re normally expected to pay child maintenance until your child is 16, or until they’re 20 if they’re in school or college full time doing:
A-levels,
Highers or
Equivalent.
Child maintenance might stop earlier – for example, if one parent dies or the child stops being eligible for child benefit.
