Hi

There's some sticky topics in the legal eagle section on self-representing - that's probably a good starting point, and then ask questions on anything you aren't certain on. It may also be worth considering a McKenzie's Friend - much cheaper that a solicitor and will help him to prepare his case.

Hi there

As actd has said, there’s lots of info in the stickys at the top of the legal eagle section.

It might also be useful to attend a Families Need Fathers meeting in your area, where you’ll get direct advice and support from others that are in a similar situation. Here’s a link to their website where you’ll find details of meetings nationally, hopefully there will be one near you. You can go along with your son, it’s generally free and informal.

It would also help if your son prepared a brief two page position statement, to give the court a little more detail about the background to the case. I can link you to some more info about this and a template for the layout.

Most people take it with them to the hearing and hand it to the usher on arrival, he will need copies to give to the other party and for his own records too.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask and we will do as much as we can to advise and support you.

All the best
