Hi there
I've got a query regarding car seats. I have two kids (8 and almost 2), who normally travel in their respective car seats in the rear of the car. Occasionally we are asked to give a lift home to one of my older kid's pals from an after school club. The distance involved is a short one - around 3/4 mile. On such occasions we deploy a booster seat in the front passenger seat, with my older kid using this while her pal takes her seat in the back. However, I would like to know for sure that this okay from a legal perspective, as the rules on this seem a bit confusing. Can anyone advise?
Cheers,
Brad
Hi Brad,
.
As I understand it, it is no longer done on age it's more around height and weight instead, so children have to be over a certain height/weight before sitting in the front seat
I'm not 100% sure on the rules for children sitting in the front seats, but they do say about rear facing child seats in the front should have airbags switched off which would make me think that they are ok in the front as long as they are in the correct seat for thier height.
