Does anyone know if I can submit a C4 form directly to a family court or will I have to get a solicitor to submit it for me?
Hi, as far as I know, you can submit that form yourself. but, you can not submit it just on its own. court would need good reason e.g you have an interest in court proceedings to get contact with your child. most people do it together with the c100 form. child arrangements order.
please contact these people, they will help you fill in those forms for free:
more info on c4 form here: https://childlawadvice.org.uk/information-pages/locating-a-child/
If you’re self representing you can submit the C4 form directly to the court. Here’s some more info in easy to understand format

There are Personal Support Units (PSU) in many of the larger family courts and they can be helpful in supporting you as a litigant in person.
Most people making a C4 application, will also ask for a Child Arrangements Order at the same time, it may save time and also you would only need to pay a one off fee.
If you don’t have parental responsibility you can also apply for that at the same time.
All the best
