[Solved] back dated payments

In January this year I was contacted out of the blue the CSA informing me of a stoppage of earnings order which amounted to £50.84 per week leaving me with only £220.00 (ave) per week after tax. With my daughter being almost 19 I questioned why. Back payments I was informed with various dates from 1997 until 2013. I was in the armed forces until 1999 and after a medical discharge I ended up working for my self. my annual tax returns have always been zero until April 2013 when I became an employee once again. Can anyone tell me how they can calculate how much I have to pay when I haven't informed them of my earnings? Apparently I owe my ex-wife and the Sectary of State the total joined figure of over 15K. when I ask why do I owe the S.O.S the reply I get is I just do! any help on that one as well please. During this time period my ex-wife was claiming income support. However, with in two months of us separating she had a man move in had two children by him giving her 5 children altogether (I took two on when we met) enjoyed up two foreign holidays a year taking all the kids with them as well. she has claimed illegally gaining all of the benefits Income Support throw at you. Yet I have I daughter who I haven't seen for ten years, have not much in the bank and yet she is getting rewarded again with money. How can this be stopped? I have reported her for it that's why my contact was stopped and I couldn't afford any more court room appearances as I had to pay for mine where as hers was free due to the income support......what a fiddle!

Thank you in advance

If you have exhausted all avenues with the CSA and can't get anyone to listen to you you could go and see your MP, they have been known to get things moving. Good luck

I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think that CSA1 (ie pre 2003), benefits were paid to the mother by the state, and then CSA claimed these back from the father, that way the mother always got child maintenance even if the father didn't pay. If that is the case, then I'm guessing that's what they mean by the fact that you owe the secretary of state.
