Can anyone help with this. I have a ful time job and a 2nd job as a retained firefighter. I have been paying CSA payments under the pre 2003 scheme for 15 years and have other friends who are paying CSA payments after 2003 who were put on a new scheme, who tell me that they shouldnt be taking money from my 2nd job as it is retained? can anyone clarify this as the amount i pay monthly is ridiculolus.
Thanks
the rules for the pre-2003 scheme are different for the rules since - I'm not sure what they are to be precise, but they aren't interchangeable with the newer schemes. The CSA are in the process of transferring all cases to the CMS, at which point you will come under the new rules, which are based on pre-tax salary. I am guessing (and it is only a guess) that any retainer income would still be classed as income, so you would still be paying on both incomes.
