Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

Have you seen our news about the lengths Chris Mckinlay went to to find his perfect partner?

Have you gone to extraordinary lengths to get a date or do something special for your partner/wife?

Nothing that complex, but I did use computer dating.

My methods were more simple - if anyone used just the computer generated profile description, they were ruled out as I couldn't tell anything from what was written (my own profile was definitely written from the heart - my computer generated profile said basically that I like driving, if I remember correctly). If it got to a first date, I was very honest in what I wanted from a relationship. My first meeting turned into a relationship that lasted 4 months (wasn't my choice to end it), went on a few more dates that didn't turn into second dates (but went out as a friend a few times with a couple of them) and then met the last one, and that just worked - proposed 2 weeks after our first date, and last year celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary πŸ™‚
