Spurgeons and Dad.Info doesn’t investigate reports of abuse or neglect. But below, you can find advice on who to contact if you have concerns about a child or young person.

Reporting a concern

It can be difficult to know what to do if you think a child is at risk. It’s important to remember that if you’ve spotted things that don’t seem right, others will have too. Speaking up can make sure that child gets help as soon as possible.

The sooner you contact your local children’s social care duty team, the quicker they can act. They’re available 24 hours a day, and can make an anonymous report if that feels safer. If a child is in immediate danger, please call the police straight away by dialling 999.

[Solved] Advert on TV

According to Robinsons Squash TV advert says 'It's good to be a dad. Its better to be a friend' I believe this to be totally incorrect and Robinsons should pull this ad as it will damage boys in years to come when their 'friend' will have to turn into a dad when and if the boy engages in risky behaviour or starts mixing with inappropriate others. Dad's be proud of being a Dad, yes become your son's friend but always be their dad, thats best of all.

Not sure the ad could be pulled but I get your sentiment.

Id much prefer to be a Dad and give our children the guidance a Dad should as opposed to be a friend and give the guidance some friends may.

Thinking on it I guess it boils down to how you see the definition of Dad and friend.

You could be a friendly Dad I suppose? 🙂

Regards,

Dave
