[Solved] Shutter Island

Watched this last night (finally!)

Wanted to go to the cinema and see it and then it arrived from LoveFilm about a week ago, but you know what it's like when you have kids 🙂

Anyhoo, it's brilliant, really really enjoyed it.

Di Caprio is, again, superb in it. As is Sir Ben Kingsley. For anyone who doesn't know, it's about a US Marshall who goes, with his new partner, to Shutter Island a mental hospital for the criminally insane to investigate the disappearance of a patient.

He can tell straight away that all isn't as it seems and he can't get any of the answers he wants, from patients and more worryingly the staff. It's gritty and some parts make you really uncomfortable, more so now I'm a dad. There are a couple of really jumpy bits too. (one of which caught me out as I'd been trying to scare the wife!! 😳 )

I wont go on and ruin it for anyone, but if you can watch it again pretty soon after the first time it's well worth it, in a Sixth Sense kind of way.

Now then, anyone want to babysit while I go and watch Inception......

Inception is brilliant, one of the best films (and brilliant endings) that I have seen for a long time - another one that may be worth seeing twice.

Looking forward to seeing both these films (via Lovefilm, which I recommend for renting Blu Ray & DVDs). I rate Di Caprio highly in most of the films I've seen him in. Just got round to watching The Departed the other night from 2006 I think! See a preview here if you haven't seen it yet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SGWvwjZ0eDc

I agree with actd, Inception is brilliant. It's the best film I've seen at the cinema in ages; quite complicated (go to the loo before it starts!) but full of amazing scenes and gripping twists and turns. I thought Tom Hardy and Joseph Gordon Levitt were really good too.

I've only managed to catch a bit of The Departed but Di Caprio was great in what I saw. I've been meaning to catch Shutter Island, I've heard it's excellent. It seems Leo is fast becoming one of the actors of his generation isn't he? I'm looking forward to what he'll do next 😀

Really enjoyed Inception! Slightly Matrix-esk but very clever.

Any of you seen the A-team? Lol 😆 Took me back a few years. Not much of a story, but if you want a 'one action scene to the next' movie - this is for you. Loved the 'no i think they are trying to fly the tank' and 'you spin me right round moments'.... I think my 12 year old enjoyed watching my excitement and endless reminiscing on the old ones more than the actual movie.. 😀

Solid film. Once they start questioning things it pretty much is clear that is the way they are going to go. Overall solid acting from Dicaprio, Kingsley and Ruffalo.
