I am a Ph.D student at the Institute of Education, University of London researching parenting online and face-to-face. My interest in this comes from being a father to two young children myself (I was a Stay At Home Dad when my son was a baby) and working in children and family services for several years. If you are a parent who uses the DadTalk forum regularly, are UK-based and are interested in telling your parenting story please send me a private message through this website. I will then send you more detailed information about my project.

Many thanks to those who have been in contact. I am still looking for DadTalk users to take part in my study - please let me know if you would like to find out more by sending a message through this site or emailing me at J.winter@ioe.ac.uk - with no obligation of course.
Thanks and Happy New Year To all! Joe

Not sure what type of research you are doing but I was the main carer for my two sons, whilst working full time, before I left my marriage. My children were involved with Social Services after I left (although I was never aware of this) and parental responsibility was awarded to the 'wifes' parents. I pay regular weekly maintenance through CSA but cannot get any access to my boys now as I do not have the money to go to court to apply for contact. I look forward to any correspondence.

hello Joe, I am father of 2.5 year boy who is fighting for access to his child. Decided to take risk and try to go through the courts as his mum was only allowing contacts every second Friday for 2 hours. Now, the court system is bringing me to edge of abyss of debt as it is going on for second time and not giving me any indication of future. In last 3 months since last court date, since my ex moved to another city 8 months ago, I have traveled 250 miles a day, every Saturday, there and back, as I have been given after first court case contact with child for 7 hours every three Saturday's in month and first stay overnight on Boxing Day. Something I will never forget in my life, first time we were together in our flat. I will have to cut my law firm as i don't have any more funds to go on and not sure what to do.

Hi Svemirko, In case you are not aware I do not have any affiliation with DadTalk other than having been granted permission to post on the forum for my Ph.D research project. Having said that I am a father myself and I am sorry to hear of your situation. There are several people on here who may be able to offer advice to you - have you tried posting on the other forums - I think Legal Eagle may be a good place from what you have said. Or you could send a question via 'ask an expert' link above. If you are interested in taking part in my research and telling your parenting story let me know and i will send you more information. Take care, Joe
