Today my ipod selection is old school - Nirvana
My gym ipod is crammed full of 80s music - good job I wear leg warmers!!!
Some great tracks on it.
For those of a certain age tune into Absolute 80s on your DAB radio - it is fantastic listening especially in the evenings and weekends when other radio stations are poor!
I'm currently listening to loads of Tool, Slayer and Slipknot. Reading Slash' Autobiography / Microsoft 70-685 Exam prep book and a technical manual for the new Dell servers...
So which is the better read - slash or Microsoft because I have a book token and cant choose between the two!!!
I have the house to myself to tonight,
So I'm listening to: Fiddler on the roof
(I <3 the film)
/orange
I hear Mike and the Mechanics have a new album coming out - may have to have a listen to that!
Mike and the Mechanics, Fiddler on the Roof, 80's hits.........Wow.
I'm pretty much the exception to the rule. I'm knocking on 40 and pretty much don't listen to anything older than about 18 months. I never have done, I've always liked new music. My wife is pretty much the same with the exception of a couple of albums.
I don't want to sound like I'm one of these "try to be hip" oldies going to Raves with a walking stick and collapsing from the heat. I mean I like a nice cup of tea and a program on BBC4/Radio 4 as much as the next man. But how can anyone keep listening to the same music for 30 years?
Anyhoo. At the moment I'm pretty much listening to London Elekricity, Muffler, Sub Focus on the Drum and Bass front. For Dubstep I have been sticking to Skrillex (both his stuff and remixes) recently (but it is an acquired tase I admit), Magnetic Man, and some of the more Poppy stuff. (all rippable from Youtube btw). I listened to that Nero thing with the Royal Orchestra as well on Radio 1 but spent the whole thing wondering when the Dubstep would start. I also need to have a look into Drumstep apparently but haven't had time to do it yet. I can also recommend the Quality guitar noodling of Dan Arborise, and recently we went to see Elbow do their new album which is just gorgeous.
I should also state for the record I am not, and have never been a DJ. Or a muso nerd/snob.
I'm forty and have quite an eclectic taste in music. I listen to both oldies and new stuff. Been playing Jessie Jay to death on my ipod recently - loved the new elbow album
Though it has to be said I am also playing an awful lot of seasick steve at the moment as well.
Just finished watching 'Shadow Line' on BBC2 - brilliant UK mini series with lots of unexpected turns. I think it's still on Catch up, well worth seeing if you haven't watched it.
Just started to watch the Kennedy's first two episodes were great and looking forward to the rest of it
Just started listening to Bruno Mars album, doo wops and hooligans, it's pretty brilliant
