I had some junk email from a garage, but it got me reading about five gadgets coming to cars soon.
I quite like the idea of handing the car keys to a young driver and limiting the top speed to 30 mph, but that will be my sense of humour kicking in 🙂 D
I got looking at the images which go with the article and noticed the message "Vehicle near top speed" - Just have a look at the speed the speedo is showing !!
I like some of those ideas - in fact forget the key, insert license, that way it's all automatic based on experience (which could be recorded on the license as you drive). Love the idea of muting the stereo until you fasten your seatbelts, though would need a way to make sure they aren't fastened behind the driver - or even better, limit the speed to 5mph, or disable acceleration if unplugged while driving.
How about a Sat Nav that recognises the M6 Toll Road!!!

Doesn't yours?
Thinking about it, Satnav technology recognises speed limits and positioning on the road, car radar senses how close you are to the car in front, citroen has the lane sensing technology - put all of it together and we must now be so close to having a car that can do most of the driving for itself, certainly on long journeys.
...{silly me! I thought 'back seat driver' technology has been driving the car for many years}...
😀
They obviously paid a lot for marketing many of the products.. 😆
"MyKey" - it took me 3 paragraphs of text to work out they meant "Parent key to limit nutter kids who are in my shiny new car"... Why would I want to limit my own speed, surely that's the purpose of the accelartor pedal...
"dual view satnav" - ??? Was is the passanger watching a DVD related to the satnav, surely it's related to the 2 screens...
However the colour heads up display - that does sound nice 😎 )

They showed this (or what sounds like it) in Top Gear a while back, fitted to a Range Rover - it's the same screen but on the passenger side you see a film, from the drivers seat, you see the satnav - very clever - I assume it's a 'simple' technology based on the 3d pictures which change depending on which angle you are viewing it from.
