Well I thought, if we can have a humorous thought, we can have a beautiful thought too.

Walking my children to school this morning, through the churchyard. About half of the graves are well kept or tended to occasionally and the others are so old that all have moved on in one way or another.

There were two well-tended graves, side by side. Husband and wife. Both born in the 30's. Both died in 200?, within a couple of years of each other. The husbands grave had an England flag stuck in it.

...and I just thought, how lovely. Your son or your grandson has been sitting watching the World Cup and remembered you and how much you loved the game, or football times together, and popped a flag on your grave.

OK - I'd better stop, before I burst into tears 😥 .

That's a really touching story - sometimes it is the simple gestures that mean so much.
