Hi,
I just started a new business, www.littlechamp.co.uk selling sports themed toys for babies! As far as I can see, it has not been done before. So far, I have developed Roger the Tennis Racket, Sam the Rugby Ball and Gordon the golf club. Frankie the football is on its way - currently in production!
I would really like feedback from Dads - can you give me your thoughts on the following;
Do you think this is a good idea - should I quit the day job and go for it?
Would your wife be impressed if you bought your child one of these toys?
Would your wife buy one of my toys?
Did you buy most of the toys for your baby yourself, or were they gifts?
Much appreciate - thanks for any feedback, and constructive banter!!
I have been looking at projects on Kickstarter recently, just out of interest, though I've invested in a couple, but it does seem to me that crowdsourcing seems to be a risk free way of testing the market and getting the funds to go ahead if there is enough interest, so could be a way of testing the market.
Hi there - welcome to the forum
I am intrigued by this product and first of all would like to wish you all the best as it is great to see someone having a go!!
In terms of consumer feedback here goes - these are my personal opinions
Has it been proven that these items actually work - you have pitched them from 0 to 18 months but I remember that for the first 6 months babies wouldn't be able to do anything (I may be wrong) - should you be pitching them at a better age?
You are promoting the items as "for future Wimbledon champs" is there a danger of promoting pushy parents who will see their 6 month old hold this racquet and then sign them up to tennis lessons and think they are the new Andy Murray.
However I also think that promoting any sport or physical activity is great and it is about encouraging kids to play - possibly more than to win.
In terms of buying - I think I would have spent £13.99 on something like this.
Hope this helps - I have tried to be objective and many may not agree with me but I have spent a lot of time playing or watching my kids play many sports
Good Luck with this
I think they are a great idea! Bright and colourful, tactile and I would buy one if I had a grandchild young enough! The price is about what I would expect to pay.
I like the idea that the ball is attached - that could save some broken vases.
Would I buy? Yes, I think so - in fact I'll show my wife, I can see her getting one for her nephews 🙂
One thing though - I tapped on the main picture and got a 404 not found error, that needs sorting out.
I am aware of crowdsourcing but not really looked into it any real detail yet. I am getting to the point where investment is going to be cricital due to large up front investment!
